Where Honduras is Located
Honduras is in Central America, bordered by Guatemala to the west, El Salvador to the southwest, Nicaragua to the southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Landscape of honduras
Honduras’s rugged interior includes the Maya Mountains, which peak at Cerro Las Minas (2,870m), and the cloud forests of Celaque National Park. The Mosquito Coast’s rainforests, part of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, transition to Caribbean coral reefs around the Bay Islands. The Ulúa River Valley’s alluvial plains support banana plantations, while the dry forests of the southern Choluteca region resemble savannahs. The Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO site, protects mangrove-lined lagoons and indigenous villages.
Climate of honduras
Honduras has a tropical climate, with a wet season from May to November and a dry season from December to April. Coastal areas experience warm temperatures and humidity, while the inland regions are cooler due to the higher elevation. The rainiest months are from September to November, and the country is prone to hurricanes and tropical storms during the wet season.
Natural resources of honduras
Timber, gold, silver, and fertile land are key resources.
