Uruguay is in southeastern South America, bordered by Brazil to the north, Argentina to the west, the Uruguay River to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast. It is known for its rolling plains, beaches like Punta del Este, and the capital, Montevideo, which lies on the Rio de la Plata estuary.

Rainfall is spread throughout the year, with the heaviest precipitation in the summer months. Coastal areas have a moderate climate due to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean.
