Lock chambers, artificial lakes, bends and entrances along the Panama Canal are mapped with depth, width and year of opening in this interactive shipping map. Dashboards break down transits and cargo by commodity and direction, and additional layers cover ports, settlements, canal crossings and recorded incidents. Compare it with our Suez and Kiel canal maps to see how the world's great shipping shortcuts stack up.
